Mrs. Frances Eugenia Coulter

January 5, 1937 - March 17, 2022

Frances Eugenia Folk Coulter, 85, of Asheville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at home with her family. Born in Wilson, North Carolina she was the daughter of the late Robert Carlisle and Lillian Joyner Folk. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert C. “Bobby” Folk, Jr. Frances was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She touched people’s lives in innumerable ways with her smile and nurturing heart. Mrs. Coulter was a graduate of East Carolina University (B.S. in Education) and was previously employed as an elementary teacher in Wake County. After raising her family, she later worked at UNC-Asheville in the administrative offices. Frances loved to share her crochet, needlework, and pottery. She crafted many intricate gifts that her family and friends will always treasure. She also loved reading, writing, music, gardening, and family time - especially at the Rivah’. She found inspiration in everything surrounding her. The Holidays were always filled with joy and love. Frances is survived by her husband of 63 years, B. Wayne Coulter of Asheville; daughter Juli Parker (Alan) of Cedar Rapids, IA; daughter, Kelly Knapp (Randy) of Newton, NC; daughter, Geni O’Toole (Keith) of Troutman, NC; daughter, Catherine Lloyd (Richard) of Lugoff, SC; and grandsons, Robert Parker (Kendra), Steven Knapp, and John Parker (Amy). She also is survived by a great-granddaughter, Mira Parker. The family wishes to thank Marti Morris and the staff of Home Instead for their wonderful care, concern, and outpouring of love to Frances. They also wish to express their gratitude to CarePartners Hospice of Asheville for their support, care, and comfort. No public funeral service is planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice. Online Condolences for the family can be made at: www.highlandscare.com
