William P. "Bill" Sudderth

August 25, 1931 - November 21, 2021

William P. “Bill” Sudderth, 90, of Asheville passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at CarePartners Solace Center. He was born in Asheville on August 25, 1931, to the late James and Nora King Sudderth. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Sara Virginia Sudderth; sister, Martha Clara Sudderth. He was a graduate of Lee Edwards High School Class of 1951 and then went to college at Mars Hill University. He proudly served in the US Army and was stationed in Tripoli. In 1965 Bill started working as an engineer in the maintenance division at the Civic Center, where he would eventually retire. Bill has been a Freemason at the Biltmore Lodge 446 since 1970. He is survived by his son, Jeff (Tracy) Sudderth; daughter, Cynthia S. Reeves; grandchildren, Barrett (Steven) Escobedo and Hunter (Miranda) Reeves; great-grandchildren, Aria and Gavin Escobedo; sister-in-law, Mary Bostic Sigmon; nieces-in-law, Deborah Elizabeth Sigmon, Susan Sigmon Wetherington (Woody) along with Susan’s children, Elizabeth Anne Coughlin, Cecelia Mary Caughlin, and Michael Bostic Coughlin. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Highlands Cremation & Funeral Care. A graveside service will be held at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 10, 2021.
