January 22, 1961 - February 15, 2021
Robin Renee Banks, 60, passed away on February 15, 2021 in the comfort of her home in Fletcher after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Born on January 22, 1961, Robin was a native of Henderson County. She was a daughter of the late Christine Hyder Redden, husband Kenneth Redden and Glenn Duncan. She graduated from West Henderson High School in 1979. Robin worked in banking followed by medical office management. She ran her own medical billing business for over 10 years before becoming a medical coding auditor at Advent Health and a medical coding specialist at Mission Hospital. Robin’s coworkers describe her as detail oriented, task driven, showed kindness to everyone, compassion for all, and conducted herself as a professional lady. In addition to her parents, Robin is preceded in death by her sister Tammie Lee Duncan Lance, grandfather Julian Hyder, and grandmother Lucille Fisher. Robin is survived by her partner Tom Knott of Greenville SC; her daughter Nicole Riddle (Steven) of Hendersonville; her sons Victor Ristau of Fort Collins, Colorado and Dominic Ristau of Fletcher; her brother Russell Redden of Hendersonville; her grandchildren Katelynn, Kameron, and Kaydence Riddle. Robin’s pride were her children and grandchildren whom she loved deeply. She was eager to learn new things and her curiosity motivated her to explore topics of interest and travel. She felt free on a motorcycle and enjoyed many riding adventures with friends. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Robin. She found peace in gardening and adored her pets. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends; her pumpkin pie was a favorite for many. Robin was creative and loved to thrift old things and make them new again. Her energetic personality and positive attitude were contagious to everyone she met. The words she wanted to leave for her friends and family are “Cherish the time you are given.” In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Hope Chest for Women: PO Box 5294, Asheville, NC 28813. A memorial service will be held in Robin's honor at a later date.
