Jamie Michael Kirby

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jamie Kirby, a devoted husband, dedicated father, beloved son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend. Jamie passed away on March 17th, 2026 peacefully at his residence. Born on December 20th, 1972, in Long Beach, CA, Jamie graduated from St. John Bosco High School. Jamie had a wide variety of hobbies and passions that showed his creativity: writing, storytelling, drawing, gardening, and custom T- shirt making. He was an avid reader, music listener, movie connoisseur, truth seeker and fan of the strange, dark & mysterious. Jamie lived a life full of laughter. Known for his quick wit and sharp mind, he had a way of making an impact on everyone he met through his observational comedy & entertaining sense of humor… or by virtue of a heartfelt conversation. Although he was the master of sarcasm, he was most defined by his deep love of his family. The strong bond he had with his sons was extraordinary. He had the privilege of working from home for some years in which he was able to support and encourage his sons’ interests, offering unique perspectives in problem-solving and teaching them hands-on skills. Jamie’s confidence as a teacher would not have shone so brightly without his experience as a jack-of all-trades. He showed his ability to learn quickly, developing expertise over the years as a car stereo installer, mechanic, gas pump technician, heavy equipment operator, electrician, plumber, beer maker, bread maker, screen printer, piano tuner and grocery department worker. He learned what he wanted to learn, fixed what he wanted to fix, and loved who he wanted to love. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 21 years, Maricela; his two sons, Jake and Benny; his parents, Larry and Debra; sister, Jody; brother-in-law, Jose; nephews, Joseph, Bradley, & Vincent; and many other extended family members and close friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and will continue to live on in their shared stories and in their memories. The family invites friends to share memories and celebrate a life well-lived on Thursday, March 26th at 1 p.m. at Highlands Cremation & Funeral Care, 2393 Hendersonville Road, Arden, NC 28704. For those well-wishers who cannot make it, you are encouraged to write a note of farewell on a can of Pepsi and drink it in his honor.
