Joyce Marie Burynski

Joyce Marie Burynski, age 76, of Asheville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, at Mission Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and close friends. Born on August 19, 1949, in Roselle, New Jersey, Joyce was the beloved daughter of George and Marie Bihler. One of five daughters, she grew up in Roselle before pursuing a lifelong career as a registered nurse. Joyce raised her daughters in Piscataway, New Jersey, before moving to Branchburg after they were grown. She later relocated to Melbourne, Florida, to care for her aging parents, where she embraced coastal living for the next 20 years. Her love of the beach became such a defining part of her life that her granddaughter, Megan, affectionately nicknamed her "Grandma Beach." Joyce spent the final three years of her life in Asheville, North Carolina, close to her family. Joyce dedicated her life to caring for others, both professionally and through her many volunteer efforts. Throughout her nursing career, she served as a hospice and home health nurse, offering comfort and compassion to countless patients and families. Joyce also worked for many years as as an infusion nurse, helping patients manage cancer, before surviving cancer herself. Beyond her profession, she generously gave her time by leading support groups for cancer survivors, volunteering at a women's homeless shelter, and participating in organizations dedicated to preventing gun violence. One of Joyce’s most cherished roles or identities was that of Christian. Joyce was a devoted woman of faith who loved her church community and cherished the many friendships she built over the years. She lived her faith with a steady grace, offering comfort, hope, and kindness to everyone she met. Joyce found great joy in spending time on the water and at the beach. Above all, her greatest happiness came from spending time with her beloved granddaughter, Megan, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Joyce is survived by her daughters, Beth and Jill Burynski; her son-in-law, David King; her cherished granddaughter, Megan; her sisters, Judy, Jane, Jeryl, and Jo Ann; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Marie Bihler. A Celebration of Life will be held in Asheville, North Carolina, on October 25, 2026. Additional details will be shared with family and friends. Joyce's greatest gift was making others feel cared for. Whether as a nurse, a volunteer, a mother, a sister, a grandmother, or a friend, she gave her time, compassion, and heart freely.
